Dandyhorse is a volunteer-driven magazine and welcomes submissions of articles, photographs, illustrations and other artwork, as well as administrative support.
Almost all published work is donated. Although there is little or no monetary reward, accepted writers and artists receive great public exposure and a complimentary copy of the magazine.
We hope to be able to pay contributors a small stipend for their efforts in the near future as support for dandyhorse continues to grow!
How can you contribute?
Contributors guidlines
Please submit a 200 - 300 word proposal for how you'd like to contribute to dandyhorse.
Writers
If you would like to write an article for dandyhorse and have an article idea, contact dandyhorse editor, Tammy Thorne.
We publish well-written, original articles on all aspects of cycling in Toronto: commuting, safety, fashion, local history, advocacy, couriers, BMXers, products, legal advice, etc. We generally publish two to four full-length features (1,000 to 3,000 words) in each issue. Other departments in the magazine, such as Policy Pumpers, Beyond the Bike Lane, Bikeology, Art, Culture & Pedal Personalities, and Travel & Touring include short 500-word pieces and 1000-2000 word articles. Administrative tasks
Volunteer administrative tasks include data entry, magazine mailings and distribution, helping at events, etc. For more information on volunteering at dandyhorse, email Dana Lacey.

Contributor FTP upload instructions
After uploading any files, always email your managing editor to notify them of the available material.
Make a folder with your name clearly on it. Keep your file names short, and avoid spaces & unusual characters (use a-z, 0-9, underscores and hyphens only). Be sure your files have correct file extensions (.tif, .jpg, .zip, …etc.).
Please do not access the contributor FTP server with your web browser. In order to download and upload files to an FTP site, you need to connect using special FTP software. There are both commercial and free FTP software programs, and some browser-based free FTP programs as well, such as:
E-mail your managing editor for the FTP site login information.
